Modern Moroccan 18th Century Home

Moroccan Magic in this Modernized 18th Century Home

The bohemian and seductive spirit of Morocco….this home encompasses both. When interior designer, Lisa Burke, bought the Five Columns house in the Chbanat area in the heart of the Essaouira medina, she did not imagine that she could beautifully modernize an 18th century building and make it even more interesting. Keeping with tradition, the kitchen and in the bathrooms were done in a Tadelakt finish, a Moroccan plaster. On all of the walls, the white gives the perfect cooling effect, as the houses call for in the desert climate. Take note of Lisa’s contemporary art and framed music posters. It really adds to the house’s character and the owner’s personality….
